Wisdom for an everyday life.

Gita for Life brings the Bhagavad Gita into a quiet, accessible space for reading and reflection. Students, professionals, people caring for a home, and curious readers of every background are welcome. No particular belief or prior knowledge is required.

How guidance works

Guidance matches English and Hindi keywords to eight curated themes. Each theme connects several cited verses, explains an interpretation, and suggests small practical actions. It does not use a generative AI model, diagnose a condition, or understand every possible situation. If a question does not match, you can choose a theme yourself.

The connections and daily reflections are original modern paraphrases, clearly separated from the translations. There are many traditions of interpretation. Read the surrounding chapter, consider other perspectives, and make your own judgment.

The text and its sources

The Sanskrit, transliteration, English translation attributed to Swami Sivananda, Hindi translation attributed to Swami Tejomayananda, and chapter summaries come from this project’s existing Vedic Scriptures dataset. The source project is Vedic Scriptures Bhagavad Gita API. See its terms and attribution information. Translations remain attributed to their respective authors; the ancient Sanskrit text and modern translations should not be assumed to have the same rights.

The traditional Gita has 700 verses. This edition contains 701 entries because it includes Arjuna’s opening question in chapter 13. No verses are fetched from a third-party service while you use the app. Long commentaries from the earlier app are not displayed.

Your privacy

Free by design

The app is a static website. It has no paid AI, API keys, database, server functions, subscriptions, or external fonts. Its source can be hosted on GitHub and its static export on Vercel. Hosting remains subject to the provider’s free-plan limits; unlimited hosting cannot be guaranteed.

Reading offline

After an online visit, the home page, search dataset, and previously visited pages can be cached on this device. Pages you have not opened may still need an internet connection. Your browser may remove cached data when storage is low.

A thoughtful companion

Spiritual reflection can support a life; it cannot guarantee solutions to every problem. For medical, mental health, legal, or financial concerns, seek qualified support. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. If a relationship is unsafe, prioritize safety and trusted human support over trying to resolve it alone.
